Model United Nations Club

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

In November 2024, we established a Model United Nations club at Ort Yad-Levovich, a kind of "debate" club of the world of diplomacy that simulates the operation of UN committees.
The club members, students in the Leadership-Diplomacy classes from grades 11 and 12, learned to give speeches in English on security and human rights issues, write position papers, negotiate - and cooperate in order to sway the majority of committee members to vote on the draft resolution they are working on.

Our Story

After months of preparation with Omri Perel, the team's coach, the students arrived in formal attire for the prestigious TimeMUN competition, a Model United Nations competition that is being held for the 25th year at the American School in Even Yehuda.
The club members, students in the Leadership-Diplomacy classes from grades 11 and 12, learned to give speeches in English on security and human rights issues, write position papers, negotiate - and cooperate in order to sway the majority of committee members to vote on the draft resolution they are working on.
The students arrived in formal attire for the prestigious TimeMUN competition, a Model United Nations competition that is being held for the 25th year at the American School in Even Yehuda.

The eight excited team members - Or Sternlicht, Idan Cohen, May Meyerowitz, Netanel Noked, Ogi Derpich, Maya Sarkin, Maayan Trevas and Sam Korover - spent two days applying everything they had learned and practiced since the club's inception.

Meet The Team

In addition to all of this (and souvenir photos of high school students in suits and ties), two of the students on the team - Or Sternlicht and Sam Korover - won a shoutout for their performance in the UN committees in which they competed.
And if that weren't enough, two members of the team, Or Sternlicht and Nathaniel Noked, won the Best Position Paper Awards, an award for the best position paper in two different UN committees. And if I may mention - these achievements are being reaped by a young team that began its activities after the holidays!
It is especially exciting because over 300 students participated in the competition, both male and female students of diplomats living in Israel and native English speakers. This also tells us that we started on the right foot and that we are on the right path.
Our Natalie brought the Diplomacy team and the ORT Yad-Leibovitch administration together with the vision for establishing a Model UN Club. Now, after the beginning of the journey and the first competition, our appetite is only growing. And the students? They are already asking us when the next competition will be.
